The fourth biennial Northern Colorado Human Trafficking Symposium was our largest and most impactful symposium ever! Along with our amazing partners, the Richardson Foundation, U-COUNT Campaign, Hope Roots and other sponsors, we hosted the symposium virtually on April 11th and 12th, highlighting the theme “Equipping the Global Frontlines.” We had 1,217 attendees from countries across the globe, including India, Thailand and Colombia. Kathy Givens, an internationally renowned speaker, author, overcomer of human trafficking and a compelling voice for change, was one of three keynote speakers who shared insights on trauma, healing, and resilience. Jesse Leon, an award-winning speaker and author of the book, “I’m Not Broken” shared about his journey through violence, exploitation and healing. Christian Eduardo discussed his lived experiences surviving commercial sexual and labor exploitation as an immigrant trafficked in the United States.

The Symposium also featured preeminent survivor leaders and trauma experts who facilitated professional development sessions, including Rebecca Bender, Wade Arvizu, Melissa Kaiser and Maria Tell. Also, we were thrilled to host three legal experts- David TeSelle, Lauren Knapp and Morgan Carroll from Burg Simpson who discussed legal tools available to fight human trafficking. Burg Simpson is a leading plaintiff’s law firm that has, for decades, taken on some of the wealthiest corporations in the world and won.
“The Northern Colorado Human Trafficking Symposium is taking steps to ensure that our community is aware and educated on modern day slavery. This is a fundamental step in creating a world where everyone is free.”
— Vicky Dix, Co-Director of U-COUNT Campaign.
