Dr. Rick Miranda

Dr. Rick Miranda currently serves as the Chief Academic Officer of the Colorado State University System and holds the position of full professor in the Department of Mathematics.  He previously served for 12 years as the Provost and Executive Vice President at the System’s flagship campus in Fort Collins, after 7 years as Dean of the College of Natural Sciences and five years as Chair of the Department of Mathematics. He earned his undergraduate degree from the College of the Holy Cross and his PhD in Mathematics from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology.  He has served on a number of state and national boards and currently serves on the APLU Council on Academic Affairs Executive Committee, having served as Chair of that group in 2020. He has written over a hundred journal articles and several books in his research area of algebraic geometry, and in 2020 was named a Fellow of the American Mathematical Society.
